We
first met Chuck Millard in 1995 when we were about to embark on an
ambitious yet sensitive addition to The Francis Malbone House, our
1760's Newport inn. Well, the team from
Charles E. Millard, Inc. did not disappoint. During what proved to be
one of the harshest winters in memory, they completed the project in a
timely fashion and, as promised, we were able to welcome guests to our
6,00-square foot addition
in time for the summer high season.
Our
guests consistently remark on the incredible and meticulous work which
has created a seamless transition from the 1760's to the 1990's.
Since
that time, Charles E. Millard, Inc. has completed two other commercial
restoration projects for us, a 1750's Colonial and a 1912 gut
restoration and conversion to what became Hilltop Inn, also in Newport.
In each case the projects were completed on time and on budget.
On
a personal note, Chuck and his team have also done four residential
projects for us. The craftsmanship always been excellent, and they work
closely with our architects to solve problems, often suggesting more
economical solutions.
My partner and I have very high expectations -- we pride ourselves in our attention to detail and strong
design sense. Chuck and his entire team, including Dean, Jimmy, and Dave to name just a few, have
always been so patient and respectful in giving us their all. A true friendship has developed.
We highly recommend and endorse this team of craftsmen.

"As the days of this project go by, I am more and more appreciative of the quality of your team's work and the beauty of what we will enjoy for years to come. I am so glad to be working with you all and to have established such a nice relationship with such good people. Doesn't happen every day!"
